E-learning in analysis of genomic and proteomic data 2. Data analysis 2.2. Analysis of high-density genomic data 2.2.1. DNA microarrays 2.2.1.4. Design of microarray experiments

  1. Single-channel microarray experiment – is experiment using each microarray for the detection of DNA or RNA in only one sample. This type of design is usually applied using oligonucleotide arrays (e.g. CheneChip arrays or Agilent...) as these are able to give a reliable estimate of the absolute values of gene expression. Nevertheless, some one-channel experiments use cDNA arrays.
  2. Two-channel microarray experiment – allows for analysis of two samples on one array. For this purpose, usually cDNA microarrays but also some spotted oligonucleotide arrays.
