Anaplastic large cell lymphoma - ALK negative
Description: Two closely pressed malignant lymphoma cells with ex-centric nucleus, reticular chromatin pattern, few nucleoli and abundant pale basophilic finely vacuolized cytoplasm.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Anaplastic large cell lymphoma - ALK negative
Description: Large cell with kidney-shaped nucleus with eosinophilic region in cytoplasm at lower right quadrant of the cell, while another parts of cytoplasm is basophilic. The cytoplasm is abundant. There are some blue nucleoli in the nucleus. The cell size one can estimate to 40 micrometers and more.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Anaplastic large cell lymphoma - ALK negative
Description: The large cell or one can say almost giant one tumour cell in blood marrow in ALCL and ALK negative T- cell lymphoma. Kidney shape of nucleus is rather typical as also they are multiple nuclei. Cytoplasm is abundant when one compares it with immature nucleus chromatin pattern.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Anaplastic large cell lymphoma - ALK negative
Description: Another example of anaplastic large lymphoma cell. Here is ex-centric, horse-shoe-shaped nucleus. Eosinophilic area of cytoplasm is at 3 o'clock. Nuclear chromatin is fine, nucleus contains several prominent nucleoli. There is bi-lobar late normoblast with internuclear bride at 3 o'clock.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Anaplastic large cell lymphoma - ALK negative
Description: Two lymphoma cells are in the picture. One of them is large with almost round nucleus with fine chromatin and prominent nucleoli, abundant basophilic cytoplasm converts to more basophilic at the right perinuclear area. Another lymphoma cell is smaller (at 8 o'clock) with ex-centric nucleus. It contains fine chromatin and 2 to 3 small nucleoli. Other cells of the picture belong to neutrophil lineage including one mitosis (at the right from the centre). There is one monocyte above at large lymphoma cell.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: monocyte, lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: Four lymphoma cells. The cell at upper left has cleft nucleus or one can say that it is
binuclear; chromatin of this cell shows more coarse clumping (more immature) and there is prominent nucleolus at the upper part of the nucleus.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: Three lymphoma cells with round or oval nuclei and small nucleoli. Cytoplasmic blebs are evident especially in the cell at the upper right.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte, lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: In bone marrow smears usually villous lymphocytes are less evident than in peripheral blood smears especially when they are made from fresh blood. The picture shows a group of medium size lymphocytes with blue cytoplasm, but cytoplasmic projections are less pronounced.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B-cell lymphoma
Description: The most of lymphocytes in the picture belong to lymphoma cells. But that one at 5 o'clock is large granular lymphocyte (LGL) - it means NK cell or mature T lymphocyte. Also lymphocyte at 4 o'clock does not seems to be lymphoma cell. It can be reactive lymphocyte according to pale cytoplasm with more basophilic rim.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte reactive, large granular lymphocyte, lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: Massive bone marrow infiltration by lymphoma cells. Their nuclei have condensed chromatin, about half of the cells express small nucleolus. Only very few of the cells are more immature ones (cell in the middle at 3 o'clock) with more immature chromatin and high N/C ratio. Cytoplasm of the most tumour cells have some projections.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: Numerous villous lymphocytes in bone marrow smear. Some show nucleoli in their nuclei. There is segmented neutrophil underneath the centre of the picture and one large granular lymphocyte at 5 o' clock.
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: large granular lymphocyte, lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: Middle size cells with rather abundant cytoplasm with villi. When one compare there cells with tumour cells of hairy cell leukaemia, they have more basophilic cytoplasm and cytoplasmic projections are more thick and less numerous.
Type: peripheral blood
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: "Villous lymphocyte" in detail. Rather abundant basophilic cytoplasm with few projections at two opposite sides of the cell. One poorly seen nucleolus is at the lower part of nucleus. Cytoplasm contains some vacuoles and one cytoplasmic inclusion.
Type: peripheral blood
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B-cell lymphoma
Description: In this thinner part of the smear lymphoma cells are better seen in details. Cells have moderately condensed chromatin, nucleoli are rather inconspicuous in this case. Cytoplasm is basophilic with clear projections (two cells at the lower left).
Type: peripheral blood
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: Another example of "villous lymphocytes" in peripheral blood smear (without EDTA). Cytoplasm of the lymphoma cells is quite basophilic. One segmented eosinophil at the middle left.
Type: peripheral blood
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Splenic marginal zone B- cell lymphoma
Description: Lymphoma cell with short polar villi in peripheral blood smear (fresh capillary blood smear). Cells are larger than normal small lymphocyte with round to oval nucleus. There are not seen clear nucleoli here.
Type: peripheral blood
Klíčová slova*: lymphocyte atypical
Hairy cell leukaemia- BM
Description: Chromatin of nucleus is less condensed to compare normal lymphocyte in hairy cell. Abundant cytoplasm contains few discrete vacuoles and protrudes circumferential in "hairy" projections
Type: bone marrow
Klíčová slova*: hairy cell, lymphocyte atypical, vacuolisation
