Description:
The finding of spherocytes is important for diagnosis of hereditary spherocytosis.
The cause of origin of the spherocytes is in deficient structure of the proteins in the erytrocyte-membrane.
The spherocytes originate during the ageing of erytrocytes also.
MCV of spherocytes is smaller then 6,7um, the osmotic resistence is low.
They have spherical form without thinn medial part of the erytrocyte. On the smears painted with MGG they appear dark or grey-brown.
