49 year old secundipara referred by gynecologist for IUD extraction, IUD was inserted 12 years ago.
Followed for chronic pancreatitis for 14 years, 2 spontaneus vaginal deliveries, IUD in situ for 12 years, regular menstrual period.
Physical examination: normal finding, fibres of IUD are not visible in the external cervical orifice.
Diagnostic hysteroscopy was performed, fibres of IUD detected in the uterine cavity. Large submucous leiomyoma arising from the left uterine margin. Histology confirmation from fractional curretage described parts of endometrium with the inflammatory changes.
