45 year old IV gravida II para referred by gynecologist for laparoscopic sterilisation. Patient suffered from pulmonary embolism 2 years ago and can not use contraceptive pills any more. She is otherwise healthy. Bimanual vaginal examination shows uterus of normal size, both adnexal regions with no palpable formation. Transvaginal ultrasound describes normal size anteverted uterus with subserous leiomyoma arising from the left uterine edge - 35 by 30 mm in diameter. Both ovaries are of normal size and echogenity. Laparoscopy was performed with the following findings: anteverted uterus of normal size with subserous leiomyoma 30 by 40 mm arising from the left uterine edge. Ovaries and uterine tubes of normal size and shape with no abnormalities. Sterilisation was performed using coagulation ans scissors, cutting both uterine tubes . Leiomyoma was left intact because it does not cause any problems to the patient.
